Anti-Spam Policy
Status notices are only trusted if they never arrive for no reason. A provider that uses its incident channel for marketing teaches customers to ignore it — exactly when it matters. We do not let that happen.
Commitments
- Notices are sent to contacts registered under an active contract with the hosting provider.
- Each provider's contact data is kept separately and is not used for anything other than its notices.
- Former customers stop receiving notices when their contract ends.
- Providers may not use the status channel for sales or newsletters.
Violations
- Sending "maintenance" notices that are really promotions.
- Adding prospects or purchased addresses to status lists.
- Continuing to notify after a contact has unsubscribed from a service.
- Concealing which provider is behind a notice.
Procedure for reports
- We confirm the report and identify the provider and the notice type from the headers.
- Notices of that type from that provider are held until the matter is clarified.
- A confirmed violation ends our service to the provider; the address receives no further notices through us.
- Blocklist operators may request the relevant information at the address below.
Report an unexpected notice
Forward the notice with full headers to the address below. If you are not a customer of the provider named in it, we will find out how your address got there.
